ICAI has opened applications for verification of marks and certified copies of answer books for the CA Intermediate September 2026 exam. The window is open from 23 October to 21 November 2026.
This guide explains the options, the fees, the steps on the portal and what to expect, so that you apply for the right thing before the last date.
Key Dates and Where to Apply
The dates below are from ICAI’s own notice for Intermediate September 2026. You apply online only.
| Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Window opens | 23 October 2026, 11:00 AM IST |
| Window closes | 21 November 2026, 11:59 PM IST |
| Where to apply | eservices.icai.org, from your SSP dashboard |
| Exam form, last date without late fee | 16 November 2026, which falls inside this window |
Your Three Options
The portal lets you choose one application type. Pick the one that fits what you want to know.
| Option | What it gives you | Fee per paper |
|---|---|---|
| Verification of answer books | ICAI re-checks your answer book for errors such as totalling mistakes or unvalued answers | ₹50, as reported |
| Certified copies of answer books | A certified copy of your evaluated answer book. For MCQ papers you get a copy of your OMR sheet | ₹100, as reported |
| Inspection of answer books | A chance to inspect your evaluated answer book | Shown on the portal |
The fees come from ICAI’s notice of 18 December 2025, as reported by CA Club India. ICAI’s older guidance showed higher fees, so confirm the fee on the portal before you pay.
What Verification Checks
Verification looks for mistakes in how marks were recorded. It does not re-mark your answers, because re-evaluation is not permitted under the Chartered Accountants Regulations.
| Verification checks | Verification does not do |
|---|---|
| Whether any question or part was left unvalued | Re-evaluate or re-mark your answers |
| Whether there is a totalling error in a question or on the cover page | Change marks because you feel a good answer deserved more |
| Whether question-wise marks match the cover page | Guarantee a higher score |
Marks Can Go Up, Stay the Same or Go Down
ICAI lists four possible outcomes: no change, an increase that changes your result or exemption, an increase that does not, or a decrease. So apply when you have a real reason to think there is an error.
Which Option Should You Choose
Start by comparing your paper with ICAI’s suggested answers. Our CA Inter September 2026 suggested answers guide has all six papers.
| Your situation | Suggested option |
|---|---|
| Your marks are far below your honest estimate and you suspect a totalling or unvalued answer | Verification of answer books |
| You want to see how each answer was marked and where you lost marks | Certified copies of answer books |
| You want to look at the evaluated answer book yourself | Inspection of answer books |
ICAI’s FAQ says that when you apply for certified copies, the office also verifies the answer book on its own. You do not need a separate verification application in that case.
How to Apply Step by Step
The steps below follow ICAI’s own guidance for the portal. The screens can change, so read the instructions shown on each page.

| Online only | ICAI does not accept physical applications |
| Successful page | If money is deducted but you do not see the success screen, the application is not counted |
| Failed payments | ICAI credits failed transactions back after the window closes |
| Certified copies fee | It is not refundable, even if your marks are revised |
| No late fee window | ICAI has no provision to apply for certified copies with a late fee |
Verification and the January 2027 Exam Form
You do not have to wait for the outcome before you fill the January exam form. ICAI’s FAQ says no extension is given because a verification is pending.
The last date without late fee is 16 November 2026, so fill the form first. Follow our January 2027 exam form guide. If the verification later changes your result, ICAI’s FAQ says the exam fee you paid for the next exam is refunded.
After You Apply
ICAI says verification takes about four weeks and cannot be guaranteed. It emails the outcome to the email ID in your exam form, along with a revised statement of marks if you qualify or earn exemption.
For certified copies, ICAI aims to supply them within 30 days of getting a complete application. If you hear nothing by 18 December 2026, which is 15 days before the first January paper, write to intermediate_examhelpline@icai.in.
Keep Preparing While You Wait
Do not pause your revision for the outcome. Use our comeback plan for the January 2027 attempt to find your gaps and plan the next ten weeks.
